This follows a successful campaign under former coach Jenine van Wyk, where JVW finished as runners-up with 69 points - just 11 behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Thusi acknowledged the challenges ahead but remains confident in the team’s ability to build on last season’s momentum.
“We are looking to do much better this season as a team. When you finish at the top, there’s no other position to fight for but to go even higher and remain there. It won’t be easy, but we learnt a lot, and that experience will help us. We are looking forward to a strong return to the league,” said Thusi.
Thusi played a key role in JVW’s impressive run after the team missed out on a top three finish in the previous two seasons. She is now focused on maintaining and improving her performances in the upcoming season.
“I can say I had my best season. I did very well, but I want to improve on that by getting more on the scoresheet and contributing with more assists. Our success came from unity and giving our all at training. We need to continue working towards the same goal in the new season,” added Thusi.
The 34-year-old also has national ambitions after earning her maiden COSAFA call up last year. She says her focus is now on working hard to secure a place in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.
“I want to improve every day and become a better player. I really enjoyed the COSAFA tournament, and it was great to go all the way to the final. Now it’s about working hard at training, improving my skills, and hopefully that will earn me a call-up to WAFCON,” she expressed.
