Nasreddine Nabi preaches patience after Sekhukhune United humble Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says it’s still too early to panic after watching his team suffer their first defeat of the 2025/26 season.

Chiefs conceded goals for the first time in six matches as they were brought down to earth by Sekhukhune United, losing 3-1 in a top-of-the-table clash at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

Bradley Grobler netted a brace before Thabang Monare sealed the victory for Babina Noko, with Nabi bemoaning the costly mistakes at the back.

"I feel that we made a lot of mistakes that led to goals, and Sekhukhune posed us a lot of problems, especially in the transition with the long balls, that we couldn't deal with," said Nabi.

"That led to a lot of mistakes on our side, and I have to say we were not good enough today, even in our offensive game, and in our progression.

"It's true that we created some opportunities, but it wasn't good enough to control the game or to be in front, but I don't think there's any reason to panic.

"I's still the beginning of the season and we just need to learn from today, learn from our mistakes and go into the next games with more conviction and more concentration, and I will add that Sekhukhune really deserved the three points today."

Chiefs won’t have enough time to lick their wounds as they head to Angola for their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg against Kabuscorp in Luanda on Saturday. Nabi says the best they can do is bounce back from this loss.

"I just spoke to the players and said that an accident can happen like today, but we need to see the reaction, so it's to keep our heads up and be ready for the next game, especially because it's a CAF game," he added.

"It's two games, it's a knockout, which we need to deal with on a very different approach, so we need to learn from the mistakes we made today and concentrate and prepare ourselves better for the next game."
