Da Cruz pleased with players’ understanding of his game model

Chiefs brushed aside newly promoted Kruger United, beating them 3-1 at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday night. 

Goals from Flavio Silva, and Wandile Duba (brace), were enough to ensure that Amakhosi had a perfect start this past week. 

Playing with a bit of energy and intensity, Da Cruz says the pre-season plans are starting to come together.

"The plan works for sure and the game model also, the players love this game model and they also love to work hard everyday with us. So, I hope that it will continue but I know also that it's only two games and this season will be long and we have a lot of work again," Cruz said.

Da Cruz was also impressed by his substitutes on the day, as they maintained the intensity of the game. 

Having controlled about 75 percent of the game, the Frenchman now wants to see his team remain consistent throughout.

"I would like to thank the players for the three points because it's the players who played this game. The analysis is very easy, we controlled the game for 30 minutes and then after the last 15 minutes of the game we were rushing and we conceded one goal on one action from the opponent,” the coach added. 

“In the second half we restarted with the same intensity and the same control of the tempo of the game. 

“I'm very happy with the players that went in because they allowed the team to keep the level on the same intensity but we controlled 75 minutes of the game so I'm very happy about the team. We need to improve again and work very hard."
