Hamilton Masakadza excited for tourist attraction Vic Falls in Cricket World Cup

Zimbabwe will provide three of the 12 venues for the tournament including the established ones in Bulawayo and Harare.

Masakadza, who boasts over 5000 runs in 209 ODI matches for his country, believes tourists will be treated to a wonderful experience in Mosi-oa-Tunya.

"Oh yeah obviously Bulawayo and Harare, they are very established, we all saw what they bring in terms of the fans and in terms of the atmosphere. It's really something to watch a game in Zimbabwe and it's a full house and the crowd is pumping,” Masakadza said.

“It's really one of the most exciting experiences that I've experienced both as a player and as an administrator and obviously Victoria Falls, very exciting in its own right. It's going to be a new venue but what it brings to the region in terms of sports tourism. 

“I mean Victoria Falls is one of the most iconic and best places to visit and then now to add the sport aspect to it as well to that tourism that you have there is gonna be really exciting for the country."

He revealed that the new stadium will be a multipurpose venue that can be used for other sporting codes as well, and that construction there is nearly complete.

"And part of what's exciting about the stadium as well is that it's a multi-sport facility, so, it's not only going to be cricket but other sports are going to be able to host games there as well,” he added.

“It is still being constructed, I would say in terms of the field it's probably 90% there already but in terms of the buildings, probably around 60, 70%. 

“So, expecting that to be finished within the next two or three months and then the ground will start hosting some domestic cricket first obviously then later on some international cricket."
