Nasreddine Nabi laments two points dropped against Mamelodi Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddin Nabi feels their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns was two points dropped for his team.

Chiefs could have moved two points clear at the summit of the Betway Premiership table, but a lack of firepower upfront saw them sharing the spoils with Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

On the balance of play, the hosts perhaps had better chances to win the match, especially in the second half, and Nabi admitted they should have taken maximum points.

"It was a very good game of football from both sides, but I believe – without lacking respect to the opponent, we deserved to get the three points," said Nabi.

"Especially in the second half, when we tried to press higher and get on the front foot, but we unfortunately, with the situations that we created, couldn't finish it.

"But it was a very good game of football, with a very intense 90 minutes, between two good teams, and unfortunately we couldn't deliver the three points for our fans."

His opposite number in Miguel Cardoso had been complaining about fatigue in his camp amid the tight fixture schedule following their FIFA Club World Cup exploits.

Nabi, initially sympathetic to Sundowns' situation, counter-argued that the Tshwane outfit have a squad full of quality players that should be readily able to respond to such challenges.

"It's a fact that maybe there is some fatigue within a team that played three days ago and, following the Club World Cup, didn't have a proper pre-season," he noted.

"But we all know the quality they have, and we believe it's easier for them to replace players that don't play or are fatigued."
