Despite taking an early lead, Chiefs suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss in the Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium last Saturday, but the stakes are even higher at a sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend.
Nabi, who is under pressure to salvage Amakhosi's season as they languish outside of the top eight in the league, sees this is a great opportunity to avenge their recent defeat and test his charges' resolve.
"I think that it's an opportunity to play against the same opponent that we just lost against in the previous Derby because it's an opportunity to also know what's the reaction of your team and the opponent in different situations," said Nabi.
"It also gives you an opportunity to make it square – it's a final and we are preparing well."
The big task for the Tunisian will be to ensure The Glamour Boys are in the correct frame of mind following the confidence-crushing defeat from the last Derby, but he insists the nature of a cup final doesn't require added motivation.
"As I said, there's an opportunity as well because, for the final, most of the time you don't need to motivate the players because they know that it's a final, it's a big game," he added.
"And when you are coming from a defeat in the Derby, and you're going to play against the same opponent, it's one more source of motivation for the players to prove maybe that the last defeat wasn't deserved, or that they deserve better.
"Since [Sunday], in our training, we felt that the response from the players was positive and we feel there is a positive dynamic in the training and discussions among them."
