UJ recently lost two of their key players in Adrielle Mibe, who joined The University of Arizona in the USA, and Ayesha Moosa, who signed with CD Argual in Spain.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Modiko also credited her technical team, saying they assist her a lot in grooming players.
"When I was a player, I had coaches who believed in me and supported me, so this is my way of giving back to women's football in South Africa."
UJ secured a hard-fought 4-2 victory against their rivals, TUT Matsatsatsa in the Hollywoodbets Super League at the TUT Stadium on Sunday, with 18-year-old Thato Mofolo scoring a brace and being named Player of the Match.
Dunga says she’s extremely proud of Mofolo as she knows how hard she works.
"Mofolo is fully deserving of the player of the match award for this one based on how she performed; she is just unfortunate not to have scored more goals this season.
"She is only 18, so she has a long way to go, but I'm happy with her contribution to the team."
The Orange Army actually came from behind, with TUT leading 2-1 at half-time. The former Banyana captain says this speaks to the mentality of her players.
"Trailing at half-time is a test of character, but for us to turn the situation around against a team on form is very impressive.
"The ladies proved that they can go beyond their mental block."
UJ now sit in fourth position on the log, having won two, drawn two games, and suffered one defeat in their last five matches.
Modiko says they will now focus on being consistent on the field.
