Cedric Kaze Chasing a treble is every coach's dream

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze is welcoming the challenge of dreaming about the treble, after ending the 10-year trophy drought last season.

Chiefs are competing on three fronts heading to the end of the season, in contention for the league title, the continental cup, and the Nedbank Cup.

Speaking to the media at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, just before their final training session ahead of today’s CAF Confederation Cup match, Kaze says it’s every coach’s dream to win the ultimate prizes.

"It's in the middle of the season and we are talking about a treble but I like that, I like that, that's a positive way of thinking and every coach has a dream, that's why I wake up everyday at 06:00 in the morning preparing for my sessions, preparing for my meetings with our players individually and collectively,” Kaze said.

“That's why I sleep very late at night, preparing for the next game because nothing comes easy. Nothing comes without hard work and we as Kaizer Chiefs we are pulling ourselves in every positive situation to work for everything good that can happen, can happen to us.

“We'll keep going until we see how far we can reach."

In last week’s game in Ndola, Chiefs also handed a continental debut to one of their development products, Thulani Mabaso, and Kaze says it’s important to note that the youngster from Meadowlands in Soweto has been gradually introduced to the senior team, starting with the pre-season tour of Holland last year.

"Which is why a player like Mabaso who was sent back to DDC after our preseason to see the personality that he has. You go back there to play with other young players. If the player gets distracted, think, wow I've been with the first team why am I coming back here then you see that the personality is not good but if the players does well, trains everyday, plays everyday,” the coach added.

“He performs everyday well, where you see a player with personality, a player with character, a player that you believe can go very far. We wanted first to test his personality because to be a good footballer, football is not enough.

“You have to have a good personality, you have to have the mental strength to cope with all the situations especially in teams like Kaizer Chiefs and all the big teams where the pressure comes with the badge."
