Benouahi was appointed in late March as replacement for Frenchman Alex Lafitte, but surprisingly didn’t last too long with Trevor Mathiane taking over until the rest of the season.
Sello, in an exclusive interview with SABC Sport, says the coach was there on a trial basis but could not handle the pressure of the relegation dog fight.
"He came in on a trial basis, and unfortunately there were some issues and he could not develop the team and help the boys out of a difficult situation so Trevor Mathiane had to step in."
Sello says the Moroccan’s first game against Magesi when the team lost 3-0 was telling in his stay in Bloemfontein, and he too admitted that the task was just too difficult.
He says they decided to go with someone who had been with the players for longer and knew how to get the best out of them.
He says that the 47-year-old was not fired nor did he resign, but it was an amicable decision following discussions from both parties.
