Siwelele FC coach senses new hunger after squad overhaul

The former Sekhukhune United mentor also revealed he has rediscovered his own passion after enjoying the first full pre-season of his coaching career. 

Speaking before Sunday's league opener against TS Galaxy, Seema said the extended preparation has laid a solid foundation and vowed supporters will see a team ready to compete with a clear identity from the opening whistle.

"For the first time in my coaching career I've done a pre-season, so everything for me is positive. I'm even tempted to say we can challenge for all the cups this season.

"The guys that are joining us and the new faces you will see will excite the fans because many of them are young and ambitious."

Siwelele thrashed Golden Arrows 3-0 in their first game in Bloemfontein last season and Seema says he told the new players that is the benchmark. 

Meanwhile, Phuti Mohafe's first game as Marumo Gallants coach has been put on hold, with their opener against Sundowns postponed. The former Polokwane City mentor says his move was about personal growth.

"I was just looking for a change in my coaching career because I realised once you stay somewhere for too long you become complacent, but the story behind this was to reinforce Marumo Gallants and to make them a more competitive team because in the five years they have been in the PSL for they have never finished in a better position than 10th place."

Mohafe added that Gallants’ cup pedigree, although they often battle for survival in the league, was also what lured him to the club.
