This was confirmed to SABC Sport yesterday by the province’s MEC of Sport, Arts and Culture, Galebekwe Tlhabi, during a function held at Olympia Park in Rustenburg, where Orbit were revealing their plans for the new season.
"For the longest time, this province has not had a representative in the PSL, so we are obviously beyond happy.
"We are fully intent on not leaving the PSL any time soon. The team will soon conduct their preseason camp, and we will support them in that regard. We are also going to provide the team support in a number of other ways," explained the province's MEC.
The pre-season is a key period for top-flight teams to prepare, and Tlhabi says they will be footing the bill for the team to prepare successfully at the University of North West High Performance Centre in Potchefstroom.
As a TVET College, Orbit doesn’t have the required funding to compete effectively in the top-flight league, but more partners will start to come on board as the future looks promising for the North West top-flight club.
The North West province is home to numerous platinum mines, particularly in the Rustenburg area, where Orbit will be playing most of their matches.
Orbit College head coach Pogiso Makhoye, who also doubles as the IT Manager and lecturer, has welcomed the support of the provincial government and confirmed that they have been very helpful to them in the last two years in the NFD.
