The match at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane saw Seifeddine Jaziri putting the Egyptians ahead inside the first three minutes.
But Amakhosi showed resilience and were rewarded in the 96th minute when Dillon Solomons’ effort forced a fumble from goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhy for the equaliser.
Kaze says after conceding early, the team stayed calm and disciplined, adding that he saw signs of a side capable of progressing to the next round.
"I believe that after the first 15 minutes we were the better team on the field. We tried to do everything to attack, to try to equalise at the end we got one point and we're gonna now focus on the next games but what I saw today, I saw a team that believes in themselves and that's a team that I believe is gonna qualify," Kaze said.
Much has been said about Kaizer Chiefs’ defensive concerns, but against Zamalek, centre-backs Zitha Kwinika and Inacio Miguel stepped up to prevent the visitors from extending their lead, even after Bradley Cross was forced off with an early injury.
While Chiefs created several promising chances in attack, they were unable to convert.
Kaze says he will not blame any of the forwards, insisting they worked hard and will continue receiving support as the team pushes to improve its finishing in the final third.
"I will not blame anyone they tried their best but we need to help them to have a better structure around the structures. Today we tried to play through the defense with short passes, we tried everything,” the coach added.
“I think we just need to level up our concentration a little bit in front of the net and as we got it right in different defense, we'll get it right in attack."
