Sekhukhune and Kaze set to cut ties amid growing internal tensions

Both parties are understood to be dissatisfied with how the working arrangement has unfolded, with differences emerging over the running of the technical department and footballing decisions.

The three successive defeats — two against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semi-finals and Sunday’s league loss — are understood to have further soured relations, although they are not considered the primary reason for the impending split.

Kaze is also understood to have requested additional resources to strengthen his technical team but whatever request was made has yet to be fulfilled.

The public broadcaster understands there have been several heated exchanges during technical review meetings since the start of the season, with the relationship between Kaze and the club’s hierarchy deteriorating as both sides increasingly find themselves pulling in different directions.

Kaze signed a one-year contract when he joined Sekhukhune, with an option for a further two years. However, there is already an indication that even if he were to remain in charge for the entire season, the former Kaizer Chiefs coach could leave at the end of June.

Paulus Masehe and Papi Zothwane are possible candidates to take charge on an interim basis, with Sekhukhune preparing to face TS Galaxy at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The pair were appointed by the club rather than Kaze, although the coach did not oppose the options presented to him when he took over.
