LIV Golf has landed on African soil for the very first time in the league’s history, with all eyes set on the four ‘brothers’.
Speaking at the press conference at Steyn City, Oosthuizen says the main goal for the week is for the team, LIV organisers, players and caddies to have a beautiful experience of South Africa.
The 43-year-old says he is more focused on his team’s performance, adding that the team format has changed his perspective on what LIV Golf is all about. He says playing alongside his three close friends is more meaningful than competing individually.
"Individually, if you're playing well a win is great, but if you're not playing great and yet you manage to play those last 5/6 holes well enough to get through and to get your team a win, it's almost a greater moment than playing well all week and winning the tournament yourself. It's all about bringing that extra little bit for the team.
"The team has really changed my mentality on what LIV is all about, after all the years as a pro competing individually to now being part of a team with three good friends is more important than the individual for me."
Branden Grace, a member of the quartet, shared insights on the course at Steyn City and what all the players can expect…
"It's immaculate. The weather has not played its part so much, but the forecast for the week looks good so the course is going to get firmer, faster, and better. We are all in for a treat. Everybody is coming and they aren't expecting what these guys have done - this is something spectacular."
Over 90,000 tickets have been sold for LIV South Africa, the weekend is expected to deliver a festival-like atmosphere.
Dean Burmester also mentioned that the organisers have planned a few surprises which will get the crowd hyped.
Round one of LIV South Africa tees off at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, 19 March, at Steyn City. Public gates open at 09:30 a.m.
