The 38-year-old mentor is currently unattached after leaving Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco, having agreed to mutually terminate his contract even though the deal was until June 2027.
Wydad were also struggling financially after failing to pay Mokwena his wages on time for much of his tenure in Casablanca.
Mokwena has not been short of offers since then, with recently crowned CAF Champions League winners Pyramids believed to have held talks with the coach to discuss their project.
While those talks appear to have stalled because the Egyptian club are yet to find the best solution to negotiate their way out of the contract with Krunoslav Jurcic, it has emerged that Mokwena is also wanted elsewhere.
But the public broadcaster has been informed that approaches made by Al Jandal SC, a team in the Saudi Arabian second tier, have been rejected, with the understanding that Mokwena isn’t ready to dive into this type of job just yet.
SABC Sport has reported before that the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates coach is eager to take up an offer from a team in the Champions League and wants to play for high stakes.
Another proposal is understood to have come from Al Shahaniya SC in the Qatari Stars League, which has also been turned down.
Mokwena is still in South Africa, having returned home following his Wydad stint, where he was assisted by Sinethemba Badela, the new coach of Chippa United in the nine months at the Red Castle.
According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the two offers from the Gulf region have been described as projects that do not entice the coach at this stage of his career.
Hence, the decision to say no for now.
