Maud Khumalo reacts after snatching a crucial point against JVW

AmaTuks Ladies coach Maud Khumalo is impressed with how her team managed to contain the experienced JVW to a 1-1 draw in their Hollywoodbets Super League clash at the UJ Soweto Stadium on Saturday.

This saw the Tshwane side seal a much-needed away point after three back-to-back league defeats.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Khumalo adds she is happy that her players could match JVW’s high tempo.

"The tempo of the game was very high, and that's something that we are constantly working on because we know we will come up against teams with more experience and energy," said the AmaTuks coach.

Having lost key players coming into the new season, leaving Tuks in a position to rebuild, with coach Khumalo trying out new combinations. She praised her team for a much-improved performance in the first round of the league.

"All the credit should go to the players, they really performed their hearts out against a very strong opponent in JVW. This point marks a fresh start for us after losing three games on the bounce," explained Khumalo.

Next stop for Tuks is against the energetic University of Johannesburg ladies. Khumalo confirms that she will be making some changes ahead of the all-varsity clash.
