The Rojiblancos have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of the Argentine shot-stopper, marking the end of his loan spell and the beginning of a new chapter in the Spanish capital.
Musso, who joined Atletico on loan last summer, featured in nine matches during the 2024-25 season. Seven of those appearances came in the Copa del Rey, with just two in La Liga, as he played second fiddle to the ever-present Jan Oblak.
Despite limited game time, Musso's reliability as a deputy goalkeeper impressed the Atletico hierarchy, prompting them to secure his services permanently.
"Juan has shown great professionalism and quality," an Atletico spokesperson said. "His experience and composure make him an ideal fit for our squad."
A seasoned international, Musso earned his first cap for Argentina in 2019 and was part of the squad that lifted the Copa America in 2021.
His club career began with a league title at Racing de Avellaneda in 2014, before he ventured to Europe with Udinese and later Atalanta. During his three-year stint with the Italian side, Musso celebrated Europa League glory in 2024, cementing his reputation as a dependable goalkeeper.
Atletico's decision to sign Musso permanently reflects their confidence in his ability to provide strong competition for Oblak, who remains Diego Simeone's undisputed first choice. Fans have welcomed the move on X, with many praising Musso's calm presence and shot-stopping ability. "Musso's a quality keeper, and you need depth to compete on all fronts."
No conflicting reports surfaced, aligning with the club's official announcement.
