Jabulile Baloyi: Team priority is to build a strong foundation

Diepkloof Ladies head coach Jabulile Baloyi says the team’s priority is to build a strong foundation to maintain their status in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The former Banyana Banyana player has been tasked with leading the Johannesburg-based side in their debut season, following their promotion from the Sasol League.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Baloyi has shared excitement about the assembled squad and believes they have an experienced technical team to guide the club in the right direction.

"We are very excited with the team that we have assembled coming into the league. We are hoping we can do better and with the experience that we have as a technical team we are hoping we can build a strong relationship with the team so that they believe in the vision that we have as a technical team and their vision speaks to the vision that we all have as a club," said Baloyi

"That is to show that we compete and make sure we do better and we set out a strong foundation moving forward into the upcoming seasons and be realistic in setting our goals to say that we want to maintain playing in the league even next season."

"And from next season and then we push ourselves to see if we can't reach and compete with the top teams in the league."

She adds that she is happy about reuniting with senior figures and former colleagues - forming a formidable technical team at Diepkloof Ladies.

Baloyi says for the opening phase of the campaign they will focus on being solid defensively and keep clean sheets as a foundation for positive results.

The coach has also urged her players to embrace the opportunity, maintain a positive mindset and remain committed throughout the season.
