The 32-year-old has missed South Africa’s last four matches, including the 3-0 victory over Rwanda in Mbombela that secured qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup in the Americas.
Kekana remains focused on regaining peak condition, with hopes of forcing his way back into the national team ahead of the AFCON in Morocco this December.
"A career in football goes through different seasons, but every day I take it upon myself to do my best.
"There will be times when you're not up to scratch, but we're a team full of brothers, so when one is down, I can count on the others to pick me up. My job is just to work as hard as I can to get back to the level that is expected of me."
Back from a two-month injury, Kekana featured against Remo Stars and says Sundowns are finding their rhythm after a sluggish start.
Kekana also spoke about the appetite to win the Champions League after falling at the last hurdle – against Pyramids in the final last season.
"The Champions League has been a bit of an Achilles heel for us, considering that we usually do so well to reach a certain point where we're supposed to take it to the max, we sort of fall short.
"But we are not discouraged; it's just building even more character within the group. The desire and the hunger are still there because this is the one trophy this group really wants."
Meanwhile, CAF earlier this week released a shortlist for Goalkeeper of the Year, and Ronwen Williams has once again made the cut.
Kekana wished his captain well.
