Magaia missed out on the two Three-Nations Series fixtures against Botswana and Zambia due to injury.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Magaia says there’s been improvement after taking a few tests and looks forward to returning on the field of play soon.
“The recovery is coming right so far. I had a few tests done and there is a lot of improvement compared to the first time I got to South Africa. So it is promising, and I hope that I will be 100% fit by the time WAFCON starts. I know it is going to be a long process but I am hoping that I will be okay by that time,’’ said Magaia.
Magaia secured top goalscorer, alongside Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade at the previous WAFCON.
She adds that she looks forward to another notable contribution to help retain the title.
“It always takes teamwork to make sure that you pull a performance like that. It is something I look forward to. And I think we understand what is expected of us. I believe we are all capable in that squad,’’ added Magaia.
South Africa has been placed in Group B, pitted against Ghana, Mali and Tanzania. Magaia says they are aware of the big task ahead.
“We are well aware that most of the big teams will be looking to prove a point against us. It will not be easy for us, but we know that it’s all about hardwork and putting our best foot forward,’’ said expressed.
