This was confirmed by the head coach, Hugo Broos, during a media roundtable with sports editors and senior journalists at the SAFA House yesterday.
Bafana are heading to Morocco as one of the teams to look out for, after returning as bronze medalists at last year’s AFCON in the Ivory Coast.
Broos says their camp will start on the eighth of December at the Tuks High Performance Centre.
"We start on the 8th of December with our preparation, and we will stay at TUKS until the 17th, and the day before we leave for Morocco, we will play a friendly game. Then our group games are on the 22nd, 26th, the 29th, and lets hope also next year."
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw planned for the fifth of December in the US, Broos says his squad announcement could be made just before the camp starts in December in Pretoria.
Mamelodi Sundowns midfield maestro Themba “Mshishi” Zwane, who has been troubled by injuries in the last 12 months, was a key player for Bafana in Côte D’Ivoire last year, and Broos is hoping that he could be available for this year’s AFCON.
He also says, in terms of his AFCON squad, not much will change from the current pool of players he’s selecting from.
Broos says his initial plan was to start the camp early, but there’s a Carling Cup final scheduled for the first weekend of December.
"I hoped to start a little bit earlier, but for the second time, the PSL didn't want to collaborate a little bit with us because of the Carling Knockout final that is going to be played.
"They might not like to hear this, but I'm happy that Sundowns and Chiefs have been knocked out already," said the Bafana boss jokingly.
