The Bedfordview outfit has secured the signature of the former University of Johannesburg Ladies player - looking to build on last season’s impressive campaign, where they finished as runners-up.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Cassar says the 21-year-old defender brings the physicality and resilience needed in the squad.
“The addition of Shannon provides vital depth to an already established group. I believe she brings physical strength and is exceptionally strong in the tackle, which adds resilience to our backline,” said Cassar.
Cassar adds to unpack the benefits of an extended pre-season, stating that it has allowed the team to test combinations and build stronger chemistry within the squad.
“Having such a lengthy pre-season has benefited us in building chemistry between the experienced core and newer additions, while refining performance objectives.
“It’s been rewarding to watch the senior players take the next generation under their wing, shaping them into the future of the team,” added Cassar.
The 39-year-old mentor says the team’s primary objective for the upcoming season is to build on last year’s success while maintaining a high standard.
“Our expectations remain high for the 2026 season, and that is the conversation I am having with the players. The primary goal is to build on last year’s success, ensuring we maintain consistency and a strong competitive ambition. I believe we have the talent to take the team to the next level,” she expressed.
