Come fight night, which is promoted by Aquila Boxing Promotions, there won’t be any title on the line except for pride, with a lot of bad blood between the two boxers and neither have been afraid to hurl insults at one another over the last few weeks.
There was a face-to-face meeting between the two this past week, and it didn’t take long for Pypers to make his intention known.
“Me and Jarred clearly don’t like each other, and I was down for the call-out because I’m not getting any younger. I am going to knock him out in the first round, and he will not hear the bell of the second round," said Pypers.
"I’m not going there to box him; I’m going there to break him. I respect his bravery for calling me out, but he has never felt what I’m going to give."
Both fighters have scrutinised one another’s past to get into the mind of their opponent, with Silverman having spent many months in hospital and approximately four years in jail after a shooting incident in 2014.
Silverman was the man who initiated the fight and made the callout, and after getting past two tough challenges this year already, “Mr. Hollywood” has chosen to make the quick turnaround for arguably the biggest fight of his career.
“I wanted to make it a big money fight and I think I have, and I believe that it’s going to be one of the biggest fights South Africa has seen in a very long time," he said.
“When he goes into round 2, that’s when he’s going to realise that he’s going to get the hiding of his life. I’m coming for war and I hope that he is coming for the same, and at the end of the day boxing will be the winner.
"The twelve-step rehab plan didn’t work for him, so I’m going to show him the two-step plan, one and two,” revealing his two clenched fists.
It remains to be seen if there will be mutual respect between the two hard men after their fight, but before then, the South African boxing public can feast in the hype and all the entertaining trash talk.
