Mokolwane was suspended by World Netball back on 15 April and has been ordered to step down from all netball activities pending an investigation into claims of misconduct and mismanagement of Netball SA funds.
In an exclusive interview with the public broadcaster, Molokwane confirmed that the letter has been submitted to NSA executives to highlight the fact that she is a member in good standing, according to the NSA constitution, and therefore remains eligible to contest in the upcoming elections despite her suspension by the world mother body.
“Yes, the letter from my lawyers has reached the NSA executive. We still stand by the fact that I am eligible to contest in the upcoming elections,” said Molokwane.
“People should not use the NSA constitution when it suits them. I am a member in good standing, according to the NSA constitution’s eligibility to stand for elections.”
Molokwane added that she does not stand in the way of the upcoming NSA Special and Quadrennial General Meetings taking place on 24-25 October, noting that she is looking forward to chairing the meetings as the standing-elected NSA president.
“Districts have called for the SGM. If it is done procedurally, then it must go on, as per the NSA constitution. The council must decide what they do, I cannot decide for them,” she added.
“I will just be leading the SGM. If the council asks that I should be excused from the QGM, I am happy to do so, then they can choose the presiding chair to lead the meeting pertaining to the NSA presidency issue.”
SABC Sport can also confirm that Molokwane has not yet set foot at the NSA offices, after boldly announcing that she will be resuming office with immediate effect at a press briefing she held in Polokwane last Thursday.
However, she made it clear that she is actively looking to restore the integrity of the organisation in her quest to reclaim the helm.
“Firstly, one needs to unite the team. You cannot work with factions in an organisation. I was cross questioned at the press conference, that the NSA is divided, and that did not sit well with me.
“Now we need to look into audits on certain things, especially finances and projects we were busy with, and get the confidence of staff, players, exco, sponsors, media and other stakeholders back.
“Then we can look at the bigger picture of growing the brand of NSA and turning Netball professional, getting a home for NSA, focusing on the males a bit to get a semi pro-league," Molokwane concluded.
