Proteas strike first blow in three-match T20I series in Pakistan

Hendricks received good support from debutant Tony de Zorzi (33) and George Linde (36) as the tourists posted a total of 194-9 in their 20 overs, before restricting the hosts to 139 all out.

After being put in to bat at the toss, Hendricks and Quinton de Kock got the Proteas off to a flying start as the opening pair put on 44 within four overs.

De Kock was the first to fall for 23 off 13 balls before De Zorzi displayed an array of attacking strokes in his maiden T20I appearance.

The left-hander struck five fours and a six in his 16-ball knock before being undone by left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz with the score 93-2 in the eighth over.

Nawaz initiated a mini-collapse when he bowled Dewald Brevis and Proteas captain Donovan Ferreira, while Saim Ayub took the scalp of Matthew Breetzke as the visitors slipped to 139-5 after 14 overs.

Hendricks then fell to another spinner, Abrar Ahmed, in the 18th over but Linde made sure the Proteas went over the 190-run with 36 from 22 deliveries.

Pakistan openers, Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, struggled for timing as run-chase started but set a platform of 31 but it was already in the fifth over when Lizaad Williams bowled Farhan (24).

Bosch then came in rattled through the Pakistan batting order, bowling some serious pace to finish with figures of 4-14 in his four overs.

Linde took some punishment in his first over but came back well and took 3-31 in three overs.

The Proteas have a chance to wrap up the three-match series with the second game in Lahore on Friday.
