Sir James Anderson: England fast bowling legend receives knighthood

The 43-year-old was among those formally knighted by Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, at an investiture ceremony on Tuesday.

Anderson made his Test debut for England in 2003 and went to take 704 wickets in 188 appearances in the longest format, the third most in the history.

Only Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and the late Australia spinner Shane Warne (704) are above Anderson in the most wickets list in Test matches.

In 2018, a ballot of over 6,000 English cricket fans voted him into an all-time Test XI.

Anderson made his final international appearance for England in 2023 against West Indies at Lord's.

The paceman has continued to play English county cricket for Lancashire after his international retirement and has signed for his home county for another season.
