South Africa looks for redemption, coming from a 15-run defeat to India on Tuesday.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Dercksen says they let themselves down in small moments against India and believes they will not repeat the same mistakes against the hosts.
"We are really looking forward to the game against Sri Lanka, they are obviously the home side and playing them in their own conditions always presents a good challenge for us,” Dercksen said.
“We know they will come hard, they've got some really good fire power and exciting players and I think that's something that we are really excited to face. I think as a team, we also feel like we let ourselves down in small moments in the game against India.
“So, yeah, leading up to the World Cup, that's definitely something we'll be looking to rectify. I think it presents us with a great challenge to gain some experience and get over the line in those close pressure moments.
“So, I think the next couple of games will really be exciting for us as we have the opportunity to sort of present a well-rounded performance."
Dercksen unpacks how the team succumbed to a defeat in their Tri-Series opener, despite a superb 109 off 107 knock by Tazmin Brits. She laments small errors that got them punished.
"It was obviously a very disappointing loss, especially considering that we felt we were in control for majority of the game as I mentioned. I think it really came down to the small moments, particularly in the field and in the closing stages with the bat, that nearly ultimately swung the game away from us,” she added.
“With that being said, there's plenty of positives to take from that performance and we've also taken on some learnings that we'll be looking to apply going forward. I think like boarding and bigger partnerships throughout the middle phases and maybe making a couple of smarter decisions at the end.
“It's areas we've identified, I think in the field we will also be looking to provide a cleaner and more well-rounded performance for these next couple of games."
