Laura Wolvaardt satisfied with Proteas Women season

Wolvaardt and her teammates came closest in the former, but lost the final against home team India in November last year, while they recently fell at the semi-finals stage in the shortest format in England. 

She admitted that things didn’t quite work out for her at the tournament, but says the year had mostly good results for them. 

"Yeah I think it's mostly a good one but I think not my best World Cup, I guess. I think like you said, leading up to the World Cup I was scoring a lot of runs so it was a bit frustrating to not get the results in the tournament,” Wolvaardt said. 

“It's nice to sort of reflect back to the season and some of the performances that I had and that we had as a team, I think it was a very successful year."

The ladies had a busy home summer in between those two major events, where they took on Ireland, Pakistan, and India, while they also toured New Zealand in March this year. 

Wolvaardt hopes they play more of those home series going forward in front of their growing support base. 

"Yeah we had a pretty busy couple of months now, especially this year. I think it's great, I think we want more cricket, we want to play more cricket and it gets more hectic sometimes being on tour for most of the year but we got more fans coming to all the games in South Africa especially, so yeah, it's been awesome,” she added.
