Sobhi tested positive for a banned substance in March, which resulted in an initial suspension by the EADA.
However, Sobhi appealed the decision, and the suspension was lifted, allowing him to return to football after a three-month hiatus.
Hazem Khamis, the head of the Egyptian Anti-Doping Commission, explained the reasoning behind Sobhi's suspension and the subsequent lifting of that suspension, which has now led WADA to challenge the decision.
WADA is seeking a four-year ban for the Pyramids winger.
"Ramadan's sample showed irregularities related to certain codes," Khamis made these remarks in an interview with On Time Sports, as reported by Kingfut.com.
"As a result, the player was initially suspended pending the completion of the investigation. However, the hearing committee later decided to lift the suspension, allowing him to play until the case is resolved."
"WADA has appealed both the Egyptian decision and the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)," Khamis added.
There has also been speculation that Sobhi is seeking compensation from the Egyptian Anti-Doping Commission.
However, Khamis dismissed these claims, stating that he was unaware of any such request.
"As for Ramadan requesting compensation from the Anti-Doping Commission, I am not aware of any such request," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Sobhi's lawyer, Hany Zahran, stated that they are prepared for the appeal from WADA. However, he emphasized that this does not mean Sobhi will cease playing football in the interim.
