Building up to the highly anticipated congress, it had been widely reported that Jordaan was going to face a motion of no confidence over his involvement in a fraud and corruption case.
After the step-aside motion, which was later withdrawn by the four disgruntled SAFA regions, Jordaan did not hold back in what he called a campaign against his name...
"The members recognise that there are three publications in this country that have consistently beaten the same drum over the last year. Nothing bad happened in the congress, we had good debates and we all believe that SAFA is very much intact.
"But if you read those three publications, you will be told a different story," said Jordaan defiantly.
Four SAFA regions, Frances Baard, Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Joe Gqabi, and Uthukela, had called for the immediate provisional suspension of Jordaan and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Grony Hluyo, due to their arrest and alleged involvement in fraud and corruption. Jordaan says the case against him has no basis as the three theft charges against him and Hluyo have already been withdrawn in court.
Jordaan, Hluyo, and their co-accused, Trevor Neethling of Grit Communications, will return to the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes Court in August for their fourth appearance to face the remaining three counts of fraud and one of conspiracy to commit fraud.
They are accused of using SAFA funds for purposes of protecting Jordaan’s personal image following allegations of rape and for alleged personal protection services.
"That is a matter for SAFA. Firstly, there is no SAFA member who has opened a case against another member. Secondly, SAFA submitted audited financial statements not only this year, but also in the years gone by, and there is no money missing from SAFA, but this is ignored by the media."
Jordaan says all of the national teams continue to achieve great things and pointed to the success of Bafana Bafana under their longest-serving coach, Hugo Broos.
He says, despite all these impressive results, they are still receiving negative coverage.
