West Ham secure promising Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf on long-term deal

West Ham United have confirmed the signing of highly rated Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague.

The 20-year-old left-sided full-back or wing-back has penned a long-term contract with the Premier League club and will wear the No. 12 shirt.

The Hammers are "delighted" to welcome Diouf, who arrives in east London following a standout season in the Czech Republic, where he played a pivotal role in Slavia Prague's title-winning Czech First League campaign.

His performances also caught the eye in European competitions, further enhancing his growing reputation.

An outstanding athlete and strong competitor, Diouf combines defensive solidity with attacking intent, regularly contributing to goalscoring opportunities. His dynamic style is expected to bring energy and versatility to West Ham's flank.

On the international stage, Diouf was part of the Senegal side that stunned England with a historic victory in June, showcasing his ability to perform on major occasions.

Diouf is set to link up with his new team-mates this week at West Ham's pre-season training camp in Germany. Speaking after completing his move, he expressed his enthusiasm about the next chapter in his career.

"I'm really happy to be here and to make a progression for my career. I'm looking forward to working hard and joining my new team-mates," said Diouf.

"There were a lot of teams [who wanted to sign me], but I chose West Ham United first and I spoke with the coach [Graham Potter] and it was a good plan for me.

"Everyone wants to come here to play in the Premier League. I think it is a dream for everyone. When they are here, they want to make everything good. I think they also have the personality to play here and if you are young, you want to continue your progression.

"If you are young, you have to keep your personality. It's about the team. The most important thing is the team, not the player. I want to say to the West Ham supporters I'm very happy to be here with them. I think we'll make a very good season this year."
