UWC coach not impressed with Hollywoodbets Super League officiating

University of the Western Cape coach Thinasonke Mbuli was at pains to keep her opinion about the officiating to herself in the aftermath of their 2-2 draw against Copper Belt Ladies yesterday.

Mbuli’s team had scored two second half goals from Litseoane Maloro and Chelsea Daniels after trailing at the break from a Hlulani Manganyi strike, only to concede a penalty at the death, which was converted by the home side’s captain Fiona Namanyana.

Mbuli was economical with her words, but got the message across.

"If I say something, then I'm in trouble, so sometimes you have to listen to what the person isn't saying.

"Everyone needs to improve in this game, coaches, players, and referees. "

Mbuli was disappointed with how they let the game slip away from them, and couldn’t manage the few minutes that were left on the clock.

A win in Limpopo would have seen UWC win back-to-back matches for the first time this season, having also beaten UJ in mid-week.

She commended her team for walking away with a point at Copper Belt’s home ground and highlighted that most of the big teams have struggled to play there.

"Its good to come away with a point away from home when you play in such conditions. The top five teams all dropped points here, so it isn't an easy fixture to play."

With only 19 games in the bag, UWC have played the fewest number of games this season compared to all the other teams in the league.

Mbuli says they have to capitalise on their remaining home games, but also pointed out that exam time will be tough to navigate for her players.
