SAFA issue update after CEO Tebogo Motlanthe resigns

In some shocking news this evening, SABC Sport has learnt from impeccable sources that the South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Tebogo Motlanthe has tendered his resignation to the organization.

It’s believed that the SAFA National Executive Committee (NEC) is having an emergency meeting this evening to discuss his departure.

The reasons for Motlanthe’s resignation are unknown yet, SAFA and Motlanthe were not reachable on the phone.

Motlanthe was appointed as the SAFA CEO in January 2021, after he had started acting in the middle of 2020, replacing Gay Mokoena.

The Association has since issued an update, confirming SABC Sport's revelation, while adding that an emergency meeting would be held on Sunday, May 7, when Motlanthe resignation as well as other matters will be discussed.

SAFA is convening an Emergency Meeting for Sunday 7 May 2023 and a further statement will be issued with regards to this matter and other developments at the Association.
