The Atlas Lions took a deserved lead in the 21st minute of the match through Ismael Saibairi before a brilliant effort from Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr equalized for the five-time world champions.
Both teams had chances to win the match even deep into stoppage time, but neither could find the winner as they shared the spoils in their opening match of the tournament.
"We played well. Our objective was to win. But that's football," said Ouabhi to reporters after the match.
"We need to work on the areas where we fell short. We want to be better prepared for the match against Scotland. I have spoken with the players, and they are disappointed because they wanted to win."
The result also extends Morocco's unbeaten run in all friendlies and competitions to 30 matches; a record shared with Spain in the current World Cup tournament.
