Broos urges discipline as Bafana Bafana begin prep for Czechia

Bafana Bafana returned to their base camp in Pachuca on Friday afternoon and have since worked hard to get up to speed before their second group encounter against Czechia on Thursday.

After having taken a three-hour bus trip, the substitutes and players who didn’t play the full 90 minutes were first on the training pitch on Friday.

Licking their wounds from the opening loss, there was a lot to ponder for the technical team led by head coach Hugo Broos, with a lot of emphasis on developing a strategy that can gather the much-needed three points in the next game against Czechia in Atlanta next Thursday.

Bafana Bafana are sitting at the bottom of Group A with 0 points, the same number of points as the European side, who have a slightly better goal difference, after losing 2-1 to South Korea in Guadalajara.

The top two teams qualify directly to the last 32 stage, with the eight best third-placed teams in all the 12 groups joining them.

In the first 15 minutes of Friday’s training session, Broos didn’t waste time, as he was shouting strict instructions to his players, demanding focus.

In the post-match conference after the Mexico game, Broos had spoken about how he would try to pick up his players after the loss in the opening game.

“You know, there’s still seven days, those guys are professionals, if you can’t recuperate in seven days for another game, that will be ridiculous.

“I don’t think that will be a problem, I think we need the next two days to get over the disappointment of today and also the fatigue.

“But from Saturday and Sunday, the guys will be ready again, to have good training, and also we have to work on our offensive game, because it was not enough in this game,” that’s how Broos assessed the situation at the post-match presser.
