Morgan Gibbs-White commits Future to Nottingham Forest with new long-term deal

Morgan Gibbs-White commits Future to Nottingham Forest with new long-term deal

Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest, ending speculation over his future and reaffirming his commitment to the club amid reported interest from Tottenham.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who joined Forest from Wolves in 2022, was the subject of intense transfer speculation earlier this month. Sources had indicated that Spurs were prepared to activate a 60 million pounds release clause in Gibbs-White's previous contract, with reports of a medical being scheduled. However, Forest have now secured the England international's future at the City Ground in what the club has described as a "record deal."

Gibbs-White, who still had two years remaining on his original deal, has made 118 appearances for Forest, registering 18 goals and 28 assists. His performances were instrumental in helping the club finish seventh in the Premier League last season, earning a return to European competition.

"I've felt at home at Forest from the moment I arrived," said Gibbs-White. "The support from the fans, my team-mates, and everyone around the club has been unbelievable. I believe in what we're building here - and with the backing of Mr Marinakis and the enormous ambition he has, I want to be part of making something special."

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis said the deal represents a key moment in Forest's long-term vision.

"There was significant interest from various clubs, but we were determined to build our future with Morgan at the heart of it," Marinakis said. "I promised our fans we would not only compete but grow stronger and stronger every season. Today is another big step in that journey."

Tensions between Forest and Tottenham had intensified in recent weeks, with Forest reportedly considering legal action over the North London club's approach. The Midlands side believed that a confidentiality clause linked to the release provision in Gibbs-White's contract had been breached and claimed Spurs had acted without formal permission to speak to the player - a potential violation of Premier League regulations.

Despite the off-pitch uncertainty, Gibbs-White remained fully involved in Forest's pre-season preparations. He featured in recent friendlies against Monaco and Fulham and has been training under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo as the club prepares for the upcoming campaign.

The new deal not only secures one of Forest's most valuable assets but also sends a clear message of ambition as the club looks to build on its strong finish last season.
