The university outfit announced her departure on Monday, bringing an end to her eight-year tenure at the club.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Khumalo expressed gratitude for her time at Tuks and shared her excitement about contributing to the growth of women’s football at grassroots level.
“I believe I parted ways with Tuks in a professional manner. It’s emotional, and even now it hasn’t quite sunk in, but I remain grateful for the journey.
“In my new role, I will be head coach at the SAFA Girls Academy. It’s all about developing players from different backgrounds and equipping them for the national team set-up,” said Khumalo.
The experienced coach also unpacked the need to strengthen the pipeline of junior players progressing into the national team structures.
“I look forward to seeing more junior players grow and go on to represent Banyana Banyana. That is the vision of the SAFA Academy- to ensure players receive proper training and are ready to represent South Africa on the global stage,” added Khumalo.
Meanwhile, the University of Pretoria confirmed that former AmaTuks midfield maestro Sibusiso Temba has been appointed as the new head coach. Khumalo wished her successor and the team well ahead of the upcoming season.
“To Coach Temba and the team, I wish you all the best for the season ahead. I will continue to support the club.”
