Marumo Gallants coach confident of turnaround in fortunes

Marumo Gallants coach Ronnie Kanalelo says his team is working hard to get out of the hole they’re in, and start collecting positive results.

Gallants sit bottom of the Betway Premiership table going into their clash against Siwelele FC this evening, having yet to register a win in the 2026/27 season.

Kanalelo, who was brought in just before the international break as replacement for the sacked Phuti Mohafe, says they’re aware of the precarious position they’re in and is happy with the belief his players have to turn things around.

"Everyone knows that we are in a pickle and everyone knows what we have to do. The boys are training very hard and we are trying our utmost best so I'm happy."

Kanalelo says their position demands that they only go for maximum points, and not even think of drawing their matches.

He says that will be the mentality when they face the Bloemfontein side, which has also struggled this season.

"Considering where we are at the moment, one point will not do us much good but we will welcome it if that is the situation of the game. We will however never settle or prepare for a draw."

He believes they should have won their previous match against Sekhukhune United, which they lost in stoppage time having equalised in the second half.

He says he had no plans to play defensive football at 1-1, and was pushing for all the spoils.
