Lehlohonolo Seema – Not a game coaches want to see

Siwelele FC coach Lehlohonolo Seema says their dramatic 7-4 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns may have entertained supporters but left both benches frustrated.

The hosts were eager to reduce the goal difference gap with Betway Premiership title rivals Orlando Pirates, who remain favourites to lift the trophy with a game in hand.

Seema felt his side showed promising moments, although he admitted the final scoreline painted a far harsher picture of their overall performance.

"It was a good game for the supporters to watch, but for us coaches it's not that good, it's not the kind of game you want to see your team conceding a lot of goals. We analysed the goals we conceded in the first half, and the guys raised their hands in the second half.

"There was not much that you can say, Sundowns weren't dominating us except when they played balls behind us and that is how we got hurt in the first half."

Seema praised his players’ resilience despite a frantic spell in which their defense was breached almost every time Sundowns launched an attack.

Siwelele are still hopeful of qualifying for the MTN8 with two games to go.

"It would mean a lot for sure. I wasn't even going to talk about the top eight before we crossed the magic number which is 30 points, now we are on 33. We can smell blood and we will push for a place in the top eight."

Seema added that the 2025/26 season has been one of transition for Siwelele, who launched into action after the purchase of the SuperSport United status.
