Kaitano Tembo salivating at potential history for Richards Bay

Richards Bay FC coach Kaitano Tembo has emphasised the importance of making history in the Carling Knockout semi-finals this weekend.

The Natal Rich Boys will host Stellenbosch at King Zwelithini Stadium for a place in what would be the club's first-ever cup final in their six years of existence.

Tembo, speaking with media ahead of Saturday afternoon's clash, said reaching a first-ever final for the club would be good for their brand and the profiles of the players.

"Obviously it [the semi-final] is very important for the team and the brand as well, but at the same time also for the players – some of them, maybe, it's their first time playing at this stage," said Tembo.

"And I think what we want is to put the club out there, and I think we've worked very hard – the club management and everyone around the club are working very hard, and credit to them for also putting in a lot of effort for us to be where we are at the moment.

"But we're not there [in the final] yet, so we need to stay a little bit humble and focussed on the job at hand, which is our game against Stellenbosch on Saturday."

Stellenbosch are currently enjoying a good run of form in both the league and cup matches, and Tembo shares what he expect on Saturday afternoon.

"Look, they are a team with a very, very good and high work ethic, and we're going to expect that. They are also a team that works well together," he added.

"So if we can match that, I think half the job will be done. They play with high intensity, with a lot of young players in the team, so it's expected. But we should be able to match them in that regard."
