Richards Bay eye strong finish in final home match

Richards Bay co-coach Ronnie Gabriel says the team wants to continue its positive momentum when they host Sekhukhune United in a Betway Premiership encounter on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw earlier this season at Peter Mokaba Stadium and, with only two league matches left, the Natal Rich Boyz remain in contention for a top eight finish.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit currently occupy 11th position on the log with 33 points from 28 matches, and Gabriel believes the side has a good opportunity to collect maximum points in front of their home supporters.

"With this being the last home game of the season, we're looking forward to a positive result. We're a team unbeaten in our last six games and we want to keep that record until the end of the season," said Gabriel.

"I think it's an ideal opportunity for us to repay the supporters for all the faith that they've shown in the team this season.

"We're looking forward to good support from our home supporters – come in your numbers, support us and come push the boys over the winning line, and we appreciate the support we've received thus far."

A win against Sekhukhune United, together with favourable results in other fixtures, could see Richards Bay take a step closer to the top half heading into the final round of the campaign next weekend, with the coach adding they are not short of confidence.

"The team is looking in good spirits, the mood is good in the camp and we've prepared well this week, so we're looking forward to an enterprising encounter against a strong Sekhukhune outfit," he added.

"However, being a home game, it's our opportunity to get the three points on offer and that's what we're setting out to go and do."
