The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Siwelele FC, where he struggled for regular game time under coach Lehlohonolo Seema. However, the public broadcaster previously reported that the Free State outfit were interested in signing Mashiane permanently should he leave Naturena.
Chiefs are expected to confirm his departure imminently after both parties agreed this week not to extend his contract.
Mashiane rose through the club's renowned development structures before earning his senior debut under Ernst Middendorp in January 2019.
Regarded as a versatile player capable of operating at left-back or further forward, he was tipped for a bright future at the Soweto giants.
Over the years, Chiefs remained patient with the defender despite several coaching changes and fluctuating fortunes.
The club believed Mashiane still had the potential to establish himself as a regular first-team player, even as interest from clubs such as Stellenbosch FC and other Betway Premiership rivals emerged.
That breakthrough, however, never fully materialised.
Mashiane leaves Chiefs having made 69 appearances across all competitions, bringing to an end a seven-year spell with the club he joined as a youngster. It’s even longer if you consider the years he spent in the youth ranks.
Now entering the next chapter of his career, the defender is expected to attract interest from several PSL clubs. Siwelele remain among the frontrunners after previously identifying him as a target, with the player now free to negotiate and sign for any club ahead of the new season.
