Bafana Bafana HOD provides AFCON camp update from Marrakech

Bafana Bafana Head of Delegation David Molwantwa has provided a camp update from Marrakech, saying the cherry on top is that they continue to boast a clean bill of health.

Just two days before their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Angola, the team held their first training session just outside the Marrakesh Stadium on Friday afternoon, having arrived in Morocco on Thursday.

Coach Hugo Broos now has the full complement of his squad with the arrival of Lyle Foster, Shandre Campbell and Siphephelo Sithole, and Molwantwa says everyone is raring to go.

"We arrived well yesterday, the boys are high in spirits and when we arrived, we found the three other boys – Lyle, Shandre and Sithole, and now it's a full squad," said Molwantwa.

"Things are going well, no injuries thus far, and the boys are raring to go."

Molwantwa has also downplayed any uncertainty within the team about bonuses, confirming that everything had been concluded at home, and that the team is now entirely focused on the AFCON tournament.

"Everything is sorted and, you know, we've got boys that are not even focussed on money but on representing the country, and with that it's always a positive," he added.

"Because we've got these experienced players with us who are always carrying the younger ones and showing them the bigger picture to say it's not all about money, it's about representing the country and doing well.

"But also it's for our own development because, if we do well, we become marketable and we can then talk money later on."
