Wales include four new faces in squad to face the Springboks

Wales head coach Steve Tandy has called in reinforcements for the Test against the Springboks after they were forced to release 13 players to their respective club sides.

The final Test of the November series for both sides falls outside of the official World Rugby International window, which means several key players have been made unavailable by their franchises.

Wales have been forced to make do without forwards Adam Beard, Rhys Carre, Olly Cracknell, Archie Griffin, Nicky Smith, Dafydd Jenkins and Freddie Thomas.

In the backline, Tomos Williams, Jarrod Evans, Louie Hennessey, Max Llewellyn, Nick Tompkins and Louis Rees-Zammit were also released.

In response, Tandy has included second-row James Ratti, uncapped prop Garyn Phillips, winger Ellis Mee and hooker Evan Lloyd to his 30-man squad for the game.

Despite having to face the best team in the world with a watered-down squad, Tandy says it is a great chance for new players to put up their hands for a place in the team going forward.

"We're excited for our final match of the Quilter Nations Series on Saturday and looking to further build on our performance this weekend," he said.
