URC: Bulls put in commanding performance to demolish the Lions at Ellis Park

The Bulls put in a commanding performance to thrash the Lions 52-17 in their United Rugby Championship clash at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The visitors scored eight tries in total while Handre Pollard slotted six conversions as home team were put to the sword by their provincial rivals.

The Bulls started like a steam-train and went over for four tries in the first half with Harold Vorster, Johan Grobbelaar, Pollard and Kurt-Lee Arendse going over.

With a bonus-point already in the bag, the men in blue took a 26-3 lead into the halftime break.

Morne van den Berg gave Lions a glimmer of hope with a try just after the interval but that hope was short-lived.

The Bulls once again pulled clear on the scoreboard and further tries by Embrose Papier, and substitutes Mpilo Gumede and Keagan Johannes underlined their dominance.

The hosts managed a late consolation through centre Bronson Mills, but by that time the contest was already a foregone conclusion.
