South Africa is scheduled to face Uganda in their opening fixture on Saturday afternoon at Stade Makis in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
Speaking to SABC Sport, September adds that their participation in the African Championship forms part of their 2025 World Cup preparations.
"We really want to defend the championship, it's part of World Cup preparations, and it presents an opportunity for us to give all the players a fair chance to prove their worth," September pointed out.
The squad has a blend of 12 debutants and eight players who participated in the previous World Cup.
September says they were intentional about making sure that there’s a balance between youth and experience.
Blue Diasies lock Anathi Qolo will captain the squad. Coach September says this is an opportunity for her to gain experience and to prove what she can offer in a leadership role.
"Anathi is part of our World Cup plans, we've got five other locks as well, but it's all about granting fair opportunities. She really impressed us during the European tour, so this is her chance to once again prove what she's made of," said the assistant coach.
September also welcomes the integration of more female coaches in the Bok Women's set up, as they continue to prepare for this year’s World Cup.
