Bok viking RG Snyman named Leinster's Player of the Year

Springbok behemoth RG Snyman was honoured with Lienster's Player of the Year Award for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday night.

The annual Leinster Rugby Awards Ball was hosted at the O'Reilly Hall at University College Dublin, with over 500 guests in attendance.

Snyman has been superlative for the Irish giants this season. In particular, his creative offloads have been on show. The double World Cup winner is currently ranked second in the United Rugby Championship for offloads, with 35 in just 11 matches. The Potchefstroom native also crossed the whitewash four times this season.

Rising Irish talent Sam Prendergast received the Young Player of the Year Award, while Ireland legend Brian O'Driscoll was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his contributions to club and country.

Snyman and his Leinster teammates lost out on the chance for more silverware when they were upset by Northampton Saints in the Champions Cup semifinals on the weekend.

In March, the towering lock signed a contract extension with Leinster, keeping him in the Irish province until mid-2026.

The 30-year-old last featured for the World Champion Springboks in their 64-21 win over Portugal in Bloemfontein in July 2024.
