Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner set up blockbuster semifinals at BNP Paribas Open

Top seeds Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have booked their places in the final four of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

First seed Alcaraz advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Cameron Norrie. Behind a 75% first serve percentage, the Spaniard bossed Norrie around the court to exact revenge on the Briton who beat him last November in Paris.

Norrie saved two match points and held serve late in the second set, then saved another match point the following game, but it just delayed the inevitable.

The indomitable Alcaraz extends his winning streak to 16 matches as he reaches his fifth consecutive semifinal in Tennis Paradise.

"I struggle a lot with his style," Alcaraz said of Norrie in his on-court interview.

"Every time I play against him it's always really tough for me. It's a little bit confusing with his style, his [heavy] topspin forehand, super high. And then the backhand, really flat and really low. Sometimes it's tricky to play against him. I'm finding the right shot. I played well. I played solid. I played aggressively when I could. I'm happy to play this level."

Alcaraz will face Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. The Russian dominated Jack Draper 6-1, 7-5 to book a date with Alcaraz.

Meanwhile, Sinner wasted no time at all in his dismantling of Indian Wells surprise package Learner Tien. The second seed needed just 67 minutes to defeat the Next Gen ATP Finals champion, winning 6-1, 6-2.

"He is a very talented player," admitted Sinner afterwards.

"He will be here many times, but I'm happy how I reacted. I feel like he was very aggressive, especially in the beginning, so I tried to hold back. An important match for me of course."

Waiting for Sinner is fourth seed Alexander Zverev, who earlier eased past Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-3.
