Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic join Carlos Alcaraz in missing Montreal Masters

The tournament is scheduled to run from 1 to 13 August.

Sinner's withdrawal is expected to elevate world number two Alexander Zverev to the top seeding, while Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is likely to move into the second seed position.

The absences add to a growing list of high-profile withdrawals after world number three Carlos Alcaraz also pulled out earlier.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion is recovering from a wrist injury and will miss the Canadian event as he continues his rehabilitation.

Montreal serves as one of the key lead-up tournaments ahead of the U.S. Open, with several leading players using it to prepare for the year's final Grand Slam.

"After carefully considering all the factors together with my team, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from Montréal," Sinner confirmed in a statement.

"It is never easy to miss such an important event, but we believe this is the right decision to prioritise my health. I'm disappointed not to be there, but I look forward to returning to Montreal in the future."
