Stephen Appiah vows to contribute to football development in Ghana

Stephen Appiah wants to play an active role in the day-to-day operations of football in Ghana's development.

Stephen Appiah, the former captain of the Ghana national football team, has expressed his eagerness to play an active role in the day-to-day operations of football in Ghana in order to promote the sport's much-needed development.

In an interview on Sompa FM, Appiah emphasized the importance of involving former players in leadership positions to help grow the game.

"Football should be run by footballers, not by grammar," Appiah said. "I have noticed that sometimes the legends, the former players, do not get the chance to contribute. I hope that one day, one of us will have the opportunity to lead Ghana football. Some of us are very humble and we all want to help."

Appiah, who played as a midfielder, represented Ghana at various levels including youth, Olympic, and senior teams.

He also had a successful club career in Europe, playing for clubs such as Udinese, AC Parma, Juventus, Fenerbahce, and Bologna. After retiring from professional football in July 2012, the 42-year-old Appiah has been involved in Ghana football as part of the technical team for the Black Stars and as a member of the national team's management committee.

Appiah's passion for contributing to football development in Ghana is evident in his words and actions. He believes that his experience as a former player can bring valuable insights and perspectives to the administration of the sport.

With his dedication and commitment to the game, Appiah hopes to inspire positive change and contribute to the growth and success of Ghanaian football.
